World Vision's Ghana team celebrates Neglected Tropical Diseases Day

Thursday, March 10, 2022

Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) are widespread in the world's poorest regions, where water safety, sanitation and access to health care are substandard. These diseases are neglected because they are almost absent from the global health agenda, enjoy little funding and are associated with stigma and social exclusion. NTDs affect more than 1 billion people globally and are caused mostly by a variety of pathogens excluding viruses, bacteria, parasites, fungi and toxins.

This year, World Vision joined the rest of the world to commemorate World NTD Day and renews its pledge to continue to collaborate with stakeholders and local partners to improve access and coverage of health services towards achieving health equity.
