Young Voices Matter Forum

Friday, December 16, 2022

Children from six countries across East Asia shared their experiences about issues that matter to them the most and how they were addressing these child well-being needs in their communities. Some young speakers expressed their concerns about children being among the most vulnerable to the climate crisis. They highlighted the impact of climate change on our planet, the increase in the intensity and frequency of disasters and emergence of new risks.

Many children were also deeply impacted by school closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic and talked about the challenges of learning via online classes. The children emphasised on the global pandemic exacerbating the cases of violence against children and children being at a greater risk of experiencing or witnessing physical and online violence.

World Vision believes girls and boys, regardless of their backgrounds, are key change makers, partners in their own and their community’s development and champions for children’s rights. We are committed to amplifying the voices of children and providing them platforms to express their opinions and be listened to.
