As tradition dictates in the World Vision Partnership, October 1 marks the beginning of World Vision's new financial year, when staff members from across the partnership gather to express gratitude, set expectations, and offer prayers for children, supporters and partners for a successful and productive year ahead.

This year, the Day of Prayer was celebrated under the theme "Strength and Courage in Christ," inspired by 1 Peter 5:10. World Vision Zambia staff in various regions across the country came together to kickstart the special day with praise and prayers. The Cathedral of the Child Jesus Anglican church, located near the National Office and area program sites, resonated with songs of praise, dancing, and worship as employees thanked God for the successful Financial Year 2023 and looked forward to a smooth journey in FY24.

Addressing the gathering, World Vision Zambia National Director John Hasse highlighted the significance of the chosen theme, which focused on finding strength and courage in Christ, drawing inspiration from the journey of the Apostle Peter.

“As we reflect on these words, we find inspiration in the journey of the Apostle Peter, who, through his faith in Christ, discovered the transformative power of strength and courage. He transitioned from a place of fear, weakness, and failure to become a resolute pillar in the building of Christ's Church and the service of a world in need,” said Mr. Hasse.

He emphasized that, in the pursuit of helping vulnerable children and communities, we often face numerous challenges, and their strength is drawn from their faith in Jesus Christ, who found strength and courage in God the Father.

Mr. Hasse added, “Similarly, as members of Vision Fund and World Vision, we aspire to be instruments of God's grace to the most vulnerable children in our world. Certainly, we encounter countless challenges and difficulties on this path, both as individuals and as organizations.”

The National Director encouraged staff members to strengthen their resolve, renew their faith, and bolster their courage on this Day of Prayer, knowing that they have a divine purpose to fulfil in the lives of the most vulnerable.

During a powerful sermon based on the Bible passage and theme for the day, Bishop Andrew Kumwenda delivered an inspirational message to the staff. He encouraged them to remain prayerful, trust in God, always rejoice and live one day at a time.

As the day's program neared its conclusion, middle management staff members stood before God to offer their petitions and prayers. They sought guidance, productivity, and protection as World Vision embarked on a new year of service and support for those in need.

The Day of Prayer FY24 was a momentous occasion that brought together the dedicated staff of World Vision Zambia, uniting them in faith, strength, and courage as they continue their mission to impact the lives of vulnerable children and communities positively.
