World Vision and Royal DSM - a bold new partnership to improve nutrition

Friday, July 5, 2013

Earlier this year at the World Health Assembly World Vision and Royal DSM announced a bold new partnership that will aim to reduce the staggering number of children under the age of five who are stunted. Globally the current number stands at 165 million.

During a side event at the international health summit in Geneva, the agreement was signed following a lively panel discussion featuring health and nutrition experts from the World Health Organisation, Partnership for Maternal Newborn and Child Health, Royal DSM's Stephan Tanda, World Vision International President Kevin Jenkins and representatives from the Tanzanian and Dutch governments – who also co-hosted the event.

The new partnership comes at a time of significant activity around nutrition in the development sector with the recent high profile Nutrition for Growth summit in London ahead of the G8, the core focus of the Irish EU Presidency on nutrition and the continued momentum and progress of the Scaling Up Nutrition movement.
