Creating a Cyber-Safe Space

Sunday, March 11, 2018

World Vision Jerusalem-West Bank- Gaza  is a strong  supporter of Safer Internet Day (SID) since 2011 which aims to increase awareness of Palestinian children, family members, teachers and community representatives on using the internet safely and to know how to take caution and action if there are any violations or dangerous threats towards the child through cyberbullying. Currently we work with around one hundred schools on this issue in the West Bank, and each school conducts activities led by children, teachers and school counsellors, along with the coordination and support of the child protection network, the Palestinian Ministry of Education (MoE), and the police department (the cyber-crime unit).

On February 28th, 2018 in Jenin, a conference was conducted by WV JWG under the support of its Governor, Mr. Ibrahim Ramadan, in the presence of a host of officials and partner institutions and a large number of teachers, counsellors, and students.

"It is necessary to establish a healthy education for the emerging generation too, in order to reduce risks and harm, insuring the safety of our children from the dangers of accesing the internet"  the deputy governer of Jenin, Mr. Kamal Abu Rab.
