How World Vision and Interplast Brought Safe Water to 1,500+ in Ghana's Ahafo Region
May 2026
World Vision Ghana, in partnership with Interplast Limited, has successfully completed a major water access initiative under the Ahafo Regional Integrated WASH Program (ARIWP), delivering safe and reliable water to more than 1,500 residents and 823 schoolchildren in the Asutifi North District.
This milestone follows the implementation of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between World Vision Ghana and Interplast, through which Interplast donated high‑quality HDPE pipes to support the construction and rehabilitation of water systems in underserved communities. The partnership ensured the timely delivery of materials and technical support, enabling ARIWP to extend water to areas that had long struggled with unreliable or unsafe sources.

Communities Experience Immediate Impact
Two communities—Kwakuri and Akorsahkrom—now have access to clean water for the first time in years. Residents say the change has been transformative.
“We used to wake up at dawn to fetch water from a stream that was not safe,” said Ama Serwaa, a mother of three in Akorsahkrom. “Now the water is right here in the community. Our children are healthier, and we have more time for our work.”
Local leaders also highlighted the health benefits:
“Since the water came, we’ve seen fewer cases of diarrhea among children,” noted Mr. Kofi Mensah, a community health volunteer. “This project has brought real relief to our people.”
Schools See Improved Attendance and Hygiene
Two basic schools in the district now have reliable water for drinking, handwashing, and sanitation. Teachers report noticeable improvements.
“Pupils no longer leave school to search for water,” said Madam Adwoa Nyarko, a teacher at one of the beneficiary schools. “Attendance has improved, and hygiene practices are much better.”
With water available on school grounds, children can focus on learning in a safer, healthier environment.
A Model for Private‑Sector Collaboration

District officials praised the partnership as an example of how private‑sector engagement can accelerate progress toward universal water access.
The MoU between World Vision Ghana and Interplast ensured a coordinated approach to material supply, technical support, and community engagement—allowing the project to be completed efficiently and with lasting impact.
Commitment Beyond the Project
With the project now concluded, both organizations reaffirm their commitment to supporting long‑term WASH improvements across Ghana. The success of this partnership demonstrates how strategic collaboration can transform lives, strengthen community resilience, and bring the country closer to achieving universal access to safe water.
