From Thatch to Dignity
At Kasonde Mwamba, a story of community-led transformation is unfolding.
What was once a temporary, thatched shelter with limited access to essential health services has become a dignified, safe space for mothers and children, built by the community itself.
Through Neighbourhood Health Committees, local leaders mobilised resources, took action, and constructed this structure from the ground up. World Vision Zambia came alongside them, providing roofing support to strengthen their vision.
Today, mothers access antenatal care with privacy. Children are weighed in clean environments. And families are showing up for services that are saving lives.
This is more than infrastructure. This is ownership. This is dignity. This is a lasting impact.
