World Vision Wins Three Prestigious Awards at the Sustainability and Social Investment Awards in Ghana

World Vision Ghana has once again demonstrated its leadership in sustainable development and humanitarian service, securing three major awards at the 2024 Sustainability and Social Investment Awards (SSI Awards) in Ghana.
The SSI Awards is an initiative designed to recognise and encourage companies, CSR foundations, NGOs, and other implementing agencies to deliver high-impact sustainability and social investment projects that align with Ghana’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Awards also encourage a multi-stakeholder approach that produces excellent, lasting outcomes.
This year, World Vision was honored with the following accolades:
- Best Company in Environmental Sustainability Project
- Best Company in Climate Change Mitigation Project
- Humanitarian of the Year – awarded to Dr. Tinah Mukunda, National Director of World Vision in Ghana
These awards recognise World Vision for its innovative and impactful climate-change mitigation initiatives. Through its flagship Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR) approach, climate-smart agriculture, community resilience programmes, and environmental education, World Vision continues to support vulnerable communities to adapt to changing climate conditions. The recognition underscores World Vision's role as a leader in environmental stewardship and sustainable community development.
Beyond climate action, the awards also highlight World Vision's significant investments in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH). Under its current strategy, World Vision has committed to protecting 1 million of the most vulnerable girls and boys from infection and disease through enhanced access to WASH and health-care services by 2025. These interventions are critical in helping communities cope with the effects of climate change: including erratic rainfall and droughts that contribute to food scarcity and worsened health outcomes.
The “Humanitarian of the Year” award presented to Dr. Tinah Mukunda recognises her outstanding leadership, dedication to child well-being, and tireless efforts to advance humanitarian action in Ghana. Under her guidance, World Vision has strengthened its impact in Ghana across health, WASH, education, child protection, and emergency response sectors. The award celebrates her commitment to serving the most vulnerable and advancing the organization’s mission nationwide.
In addition, World Vision was acknowledged as a “Benchmark Organization for Leadership and Excellence in Social Impact.” This honor is reserved for institutions that set national standards in social development, community empowerment, and long-term sustainability. It reflects World Vision's consistent delivery of evidence-based, community-centered solutions that improve livelihoods and transform lives.

Advancing Credibility, Partnerships and Impact
These awards reinforce World Vision's credibility and visibility within Ghana’s development landscape. They also serve as powerful tools for attracting strategic partnerships and mobilising resources to scale sustainable and humanitarian initiatives. By demonstrating excellence across environmental, social, and humanitarian sectors, World Vision continues to position itself as a trusted partner for government bodies, donors, the private sector, and civil society organisations.
Following the awards ceremony, representatives from World Vision expressed gratitude to their partners, donors, staff, and community volunteers whose dedication and collaboration made these achievements possible. The organisation reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that every child enjoys “life in all its fullness,” while communities build resilience and thrive sustainably.
