Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty

A New Model of Cooperation for Ending Child Hunger and Poverty

For World Vision, joining the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty (GAAHP) is a key step in driving global action to end child hunger and poverty. Through the Alliance, we bring our child-focused expertise and community insights to shape policies and programmes that truly meet children’s needs.

This partnership allows us to scale proven solutions and ensure that children’s realities shape national and global decision-making. By working with governments, UN agencies, and civil society, we deliver lasting, child-centred solutions to hunger and malnutrition

What is the GAAHP?

The GAAHP  is a country-led initiative launched during the 2024 G20 Summit in Brazil to unite governments, international organisations, development banks, civil society, and private partners, with the goal of supporting efforts to achieve Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 1 (No Poverty) and SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) through better coordination, investment, and impact. It acts as a neutral space for partners to align priorities and translate political will into measurable progress.

It began with 148 founding members and has grown to over 200, showing strong confidence in this new model of cooperation focused on collective action and measurable impact.

World Vision’s strategic stake in GAAHP

World Vision’s long-term presence in vulnerable communities, our proven child-focused solutions, and our evidence-based programming equip the Alliance with grounded insights that help translate global commitments into meaningful change for families. We bring unique value by bridging high-level ambition with community-driven implementation, ensuring that policies and plans are informed by real experiences on the ground. Our child-led advocacy continues to elevate children’s voices and secure their meaningful participation in national decision-making processes.

This engagement is further strengthened by the ENOUGH campaign, which aligns closely with the GAAHP’s mission to end hunger and poverty.
